Self Help Graphics & Art is a landmark community arts center in East Los Angeles, rooted in the cultural renaissance of the Chicano Movement. For this project, I developed a brand identity system inspired by Aztec and Mayan glyphic grids, creating a custom display typeface that both honors the organization’s heritage and reintroduces it for a contemporary audience. The system extends across visual identity, typography, and brand voice—celebrating SHG’s history of socially engaged art while ensuring relevance and accessibility for new generations.
