The Midcity Community Coalition was a grassroots nonprofit in the Mid-City neighborhood of Los Angeles, focused on reducing violence, advocating for residents, and creating opportunities for youth and families. At the time, the coalition partnered with local small businesses and community spaces many of which have since closed due to neighborhood redevelopment and gentrification.
I developed a comprehensive visual identity that reflected the energy, diversity, and culture of the area. The main graphic treatment was inspired by the density of the neighborhood when viewed from above each condensed “MIDCITY” wordmark representing a block in the community grid. The visual system paired bold typography with a vibrant color palette for a distinctive, approachable look.
Deliverables included Visual Identity, a community newspaper, business cards, a small informational booklet, event posters, and tote bags, ensuring a consistent presence across public events, outreach campaigns, and neighborhood programs.
