Harmony Holiday tests the limits of language through her writing. Her poems are chaotic and mesmerizing with focus on violence, music, and history. She writes in ways to speak about, between, around, and through race, reflecting its complex nature in this country.
Through brayering, letterpress, and screen printing, I created visuals that evoke a sense of drama and rhythm. Abstraction, as the key point, contains a disorderly and rhythmical feel. This embodies the rhythm of the musicians she refers to and pushes grammar and language towards a dynamic cultural experience.
